His Recommendation via LinkedIn: November 5, 2020 I have collaborated with Prof. Yuji Iwahori in various research projects in the area of computer vision in the last 10 years and it has always been an honor to work with him. He is a great educator, an expert in the area of computer vision, and provides constant and hands-on support to his students during projects. My first collaboration with him was in the year of 2010 when as a B. Tech student at IIT Guwahati, I visited Chubu University to participate in an internship program, and he supervised me in a project in monocular 3D reconstruction. The project resulted in several peer-reviewed publications. Since then, his research collaboration with IIT Guwahati continued with my B. Tech supervisor Prof. Manas Kamal Bhuyan. Prof. Iwahori has also been very generous to invite many IIT students for internships to Chubu University and it has helped in strengthening India-Japan relationship in research. Prof. Iwahori had also inspired me to continue my journey in computer vision after I graduated from IIT Guwahati, and encouraged me to apply to the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada where I received my Ph.D. later. Prof. Iwahori had visited UBC several times during my Ph.D. studies and it was always amazing to meet him, discuss computer vision, and also share our mutual interest in exploring Indian and Japanese cuisine! Our collaboration has continued, and we are currently working in a project on facial emotion detection. Recently Prof. Iwahori has also been honored with an Honorary Faculty Position at IIT Guwahati. By having Prof. Iwahori as a faculty member, the research and student community at IIT Guwahati will be greatly benefited and I hope it will result in many innovations! I would highly encourage the students of IIT Guwahati working in the area of computer vision to connect with Prof. Iwahori and explore research opportunities in the future. Debanga Raj Neog
